New products at Ulta 🧚🏽‍♀️

As what I love to do on at least a monthly basis is look at what products have come out at our favorite major makeup stores. Likely, you’ll get your makeup from about two of the following: Sephora, Ulta, Morphe, CVS, Walmart, or Walgreens. Well today, let’s check out the latest things that may have hit the Ulta stores. If you are big on social media, you may have seen some of these products.

DISCLAIMER: (Please keep in mind that we are observing the products themselves, and do not take into consideration of the people who are behind the products. Let’s be here for the makeup, fashion and love 💕).

*I can not wait until someone reviews this foundation.

* Come on now, NO CONS to this Urban Decay palette? I think we should wait a little longer to see because that’s not what I’ve been seeing on YouTube reviews 👀

*Hey, hey….all you get is 12 shades, so don’t shoot the messenger. I didn’t even bother looking at the reviews because can you consider the reviews to be diverse and unbiased? Come on Benefits Cosmetics!

* I had to double-check the price of this palette. $38.00 for a palette with only eight shades? THAT’S $4.75 PER SHADE! Gurl, I can not……the Venus XL palette: Screen Shot 2018-07-19 at 9.37.04 PM

This palette is $56.00 for 18 shades….that’s $3.11 for per shade. What is the deal with the price? Is this normal?????

You know what, I gotta take a break from this one for the day. I gotta say that I’m a bit shocked at the price of Lime Crime’s eyeshadow palette, especially since they are an online-only brand at Ulta. Is there anywhere that you can physically see this product before buying it or is it a private company?

Let me know in the comments below.

Best primers on the market?

Awww, here we go….a topic that definitely will have some of us (including me) shaking our heads. So before we get to that point, let’s cover a few things.

Honestly, what are the criteria of a good primer? I mean, if one company makes the same primer in a gel, cream, powder, or spray…….what determines if a primer is considered ‘good’. Like most makeup products on the market, let’s just be real, the first thing we take into consideration is the texture. Yes, Ulta, Sephora, and other companies provide customer reviews, which are extremely helpful.

In my personal experience, I’ve taken to the reviews to find out how others have used the product and how its worked for them. While this is helpful, sometimes relying on review is much too can lead to missing out on some really good products. Truth is, every product doesn’t work the same on every skin type of every shade.

Let’s try to break it down on what’s out there that’s considered top-rated and what is ‘good’ and ‘bad’ about them. Please keep in mind these primers are in no order, just known as top-rated. Here we go with Ulta first:

And next from Sephora:

While some brands or specific products form brands are exclusive to one store as opposed to the other, they both provide a comprehensive list of notable facial primers that are favorites among the customers. Some of my favorites have been Smashbox, Too Faced’s HangoverRx, and any primer from Urban Decay. What’s your favorite primer? Share with us.

Exactly how BIG is L’Oréal?

Gurl, no shade…NO SHADE. With that being said, would it be surprising to realize how big L’Oréal truly is? It was to me.

L’Oréal is a French-based beauty corporation originally founded in 1909 by Eugène Schueller, who was a pharmacist, chemist, and entrepreneur. Schueller’s amazing accomplishment at expanding his business into an empire is impossible to ignore.

Here’s a list of companies that are directly associated with the L’Oréal family or there is an invested interest in:

  • Maybelline
  • Carol’s Daughter
  • NYX Cosmetics
  • Soft-Sheen Carson
  • Essie
  • Colorama
  • Vichy
  • La Roche Posay
  • Dermablend
  • Lancôme
  • Giorgio Armani
  • Urban Decay (yes ma’am)
  • Guy Laroche
  • Garnier

Although L’Oréal is known as one of the oldest, largest and most established makeup corporations on the planet, let it serve as inspiration that a small business can grow beyond your wildest dreams. Don’t give up, keep moving and stay mentally positive as best you can, no matter how hard things may be. Obstacles are temporary 😀

Fake Makeup Seized in LA’s Fashion District

The Task Force of LAPD recently raided LA’s Fashion District, seizing over $700,000 worth of counterfeit makeup products like Urban Decay’s Naked palette series, Kylie Cosmetics, NARS, and MAC. An LAPD spokesperson stated that 21 different locations were raided and the makeup was ‘found to contain bacteria and human waste.’ (Miriam Hernandez with ABC7.com).

Someone please contact that friend and that YouTuber that has been using these products for our enjoyment and spread the word!!!! Please don’t buy fake makeup. Its unsafe and you have no idea what is in those products. Save the coin and just go to your favorite makeup store….its safer 💕

Holographic and glitter makeup favs UNDER $15 🔥🔥🔥

While I have spent my share hours of my little life in front of a mirror, attempting to do my makeup before a date, important events, or just a day to cover blemishes, one trend that has gotten the masses out to the makeup aisles…..holographic and glitter makeup. Yes, dear reader, I am aware that your favorite YouTube beauty gurus have attempted to kill the holographic/glitter craze of 2017 but the reality is….it just takes some of us normal people time to come around to what the latest trend is. Sometimes the latest trends don’t fit into our lifestyle in which we have transitional time in which we come around to trying new makeup ideas. Other times, new makeup trends cost us not only our time, but extra money. That’s right, it can tend to put a dent in other everyday things that are standard so, buying new makeup can be considered a ‘treat yourself’ moment, let alone a product you have never used before.

Yes reader, just like some of you, makeup trends are a luxury to me and I have often passed them up and settled to watching a professional makeup artist use the latest products on their own faces while I observe for free. Now that time has passed and I have taken the initiative to engage some of the new holographic and glitter trends, I’d like to share with you some of my favorites in no particular order:

LOreal Infalliable Galaxy Holographic Highlighter
L’Oreal Infallible Galaxy Lumiere Holographic Highlighter Stick

While this product is one of those ‘I don’t know’ things until you read all the good reviews or your friends start talking about it, you’ll quickly regret not getting it sooner.  Priced at a reasonable $9.99, L’Oreal’s Infalliable Holographic Highligher stick is highly sought after in the shades Cosmic Pink, Astro Blue, and Galaxy Gold. While still exclusive, don’t get mad at me when you visit your local ULTA store and its likely to be sold out. This is a highly-pigmented, multi-use highlighter that fits wonderfully into your purse, bag, in the armrest of your car….you get what I’m saying girlie? This product can be applied to the brow bone as a highlight, over a matte eyeshadow, cheekbones, cupid’s bow…need I say more?

Now since L’Oreal has brought the makeup community a definite holographic series winner AND bought another cosmetic corporation for about $1.2 billion…maybe we can finally get those iT Cosmetics foundation shades expanded a little?🤨🤨😁

Wet N Wild Highlight
Wet-n-Wild MegaGlo Liquid Highlighter

Now before you start, let’s be honest here…Wet-n-Wild has come a long way in the makeup community. While I have been a bit apprehensive about liquid highlighters, this one was something I couldn’t pass up. While available in you local drugstore, this highlighter can be bought just about anywhere. Why is it so amazing? Because its BLINDING!!!! Yes, highlighter overload if you don’t watch it, so a little goes a long way, which is a good thing. While priced at $4.68 on Walmart.com, this highlighter is a great way to start playing with the different way in how this can bring some ‘pop’ to your makeup routine.

Vice Special Effects Long-Lasting Water-Resistant Lip Topcoat

When we talk about low-cost highlighter and fancy glitter lipgloss, one of the names that usually don’t come to mind is Urban Decay. With their impressive lippy-series called Vice, Urban Decay has brought a full spectrum of color to the makeup game. What they also did with the Vice series is provide us with the lip topcoats. These lipgloss-like toppers can be worn alone or over a matte lipstick, giving you that glitzy effect with hints of stunning color. Now….ready for the price? While originally priced at $18.00, these lip-toppers are on sale at your local makeup store (Ulta, Sephora) for $9.00! Gurl….what are you waiting for??? Get to Sephora  💕

Ulta’s best-selling foundations Feb 2018

Hey Babes
As I’ve spent my time over the years trying new makeup foundations and new ones that work better than the previous, Ulta has created a list who has made the cut.

Urban Decay

Me in Urban Decay Naked Skin in ‘Deep Neutral’ 💝

Here are the top five makeup foundations:
1.) it Cosmetics: Your Skin But Better CC cream +SPF 50: This full coverage foundation and concealer gives the protection of SPF 50+ UVA/UVB and also claims to provide a flawless finish, vitamins A, B, C and E, and antioxidants. While these and numerous other bonuses sound quite beneficial, I can’t help but wonder what percentage of the population can wear it with only seven available colors.
2.) ESTÉE LAUDER Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup foundation: Known for its staying power in the beauty community, Estée Lauder has placed on the market a 42-shade 24-hour foundation. The makeup giant says this product is lightweight, oil-free, controls excessive oily skin, medium to full coverage, and provides a matte finish. Whew, that’s a lot to live up to.
3.) Too Faced ‘Born This Way’ Undetectable Medium-to-Full Coverage Foundation: Now that’s a mouthful for a single product, don’t you think? What excited me about this foundation is the ability to go from medium to full coverage. nspired by “I woke up like this” perfection, Too Faced Co-founder and Chief Creative Officer Jerrod Blandino set out on a mission to create a foundation so undetectable you can go ahead and lie with beautifully natural coverage that will have everyone thinking you were Born This Way. (Ulta.com, 2018). With 24 shades available, Too Faced says that this product features include:

  • Medium-to-full, undetectable coverage
  • Hydrating
  • Long-wearing for 12 hours
  • Photo friendly/No flashback
  • Non-comedogenic
  • Oil-free
  • Coconut water helps delicately replenish skin’s moisture levels without over hydrating
  • Hyaluronic filling spheres for a smoother, more youthful appearance

4.) NARS Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation: While one of the foundations I am personally using these days, NARS has definitely set a standard with providing a better than expected foundation with 33 shades to choose from. This radiant long-wear collection from NARS gives the user a fade-resistant foundation with up to 16 hours of confident wear while still allowing the skin to breath and have a natural-looking glow.
5.) LANCÔME Teint Idole Ultra Liquid 24H Longwear SPF 15 Foundation: While so many new makeup lines are popping up to compete in the beauty community, Lancôme has stood the test of time, improving and sustaining its right among the best for decades. While this Teint Idole liquid foundation only provides a SPF 15, it makes up for is with a full 24-hour foundation wear. I mean wow!!! Many of us hoped for a good foundation that will last and Lancôme has come through to answer the call. With 40 shades to choose from, the beauty giant has additional benefits with its product:

  • Oil-free
  • Up to 24 hour wear
  • Contains SPF 15
  • Medium to full coverage
  • Velvety matte finish (no powdery effect)
  • Transfer-resistant
  • Fragrance-free
  • Non-comedogenic
  • Suitable for all skin types
  • Tested on sensitive skin
  • Tested under dermatological control
