Michael Kors buys Versace: Who’s getting elevated here?

Yes, I know some of you were wondering if I was going to say something about this. Okay, when I heard about the potential sale of Versace to Michael Kors a couple of days ago, I was in the airport trying to catch my flight. When I saw the tweets and then the articles this morning, I nearly choked on my breakfast. What was even more interesting were the reactions to these turn of events.

While most of us were hit with shock, awe, and excitement, I can truly say that Michael Kors has been on an aggressive climb in the world of fashion and business. So let’s be honest here: if Michael Kors was not considered a ‘giant’ in the fashion industry in the past, they are now. Not only with its recent acquiring of Versace, but a series of strategically-placed events. What some are forgetting is that this is not the first time in which Michael Kors has made a major investment within the fashion industry. Back in 2017, Michael Kors bought Jimmy Choo for an estimated £896 million ($1.1 billion). Now, while still expanding with stores all over the world, Michael Kors announced a deal to by the fashion house of Versace for an estimated $2.1 billion and then change the name of MKH Limited to Capri to couple with the expansion of its empire.
While this is a major reign of accomplishments for the American designer and his empire, some Versace fans were not too happy about the merg. When the news hit Twitter, there were a swarm of mixed feelings:

With the reading of Twitter, it seems fans are concerned with the potential downplay of the empire that is Versace, but I don’t see it happening. Check out Versace’s most recent collection at Milan Fashion Week

2018 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival: LL Cool J/ New Orleans Tricentennial

So one of the many beautiful things about living in Louisiana is the ability to have a good time without planning it. This weekend marked the end of the 2018 JazzFest and the 300th Anniversary of the city of New Orleans. While the tickets to such an event may not seem reasonable, having access to stage acts from Anita Baker to Aerosmith makes it worth the wild!

So I didn’t see Aerosmith or Ms. Baker, but I did witness the legendary hiphop master LL Cool J rock the golden mic on JazzFest Congo Square Stage  🔥🔥🔥🔥 Here’s my backstage view:

While spending some time in New Orleans, I decided to take in some of the views I’ve grown up with and share it with you. Being from this great state, I missed it tremendously while I was in the U.S. Army. When I moved to New York, I would make sure I took a vacation to come back around this time of the year. Here’s some photos so you can take in the beauty and uniqueness of the city of New Orleans, Louisiana in the French Quarter:

YouTube – Allure Beauty Box

For the past 3 or four months, I can honestly say there is a love/hate relationship between myself and the Allure Beauty Box. Like that great-aunt with the terrible garlic breath that you know is going to give you an awesome present for the holidays. Or that hideous relationship that you were absolutely happy ended but you missed the kisses. Its like….urgh! From the first box that I got, there was something in there for me and something in that box that totally made me want to pack it back up, put it in my car and drop it off at one of my friends’ house as a gift. Like what’s the point?

One of the many perks of getting the Allure Beauty Box is that it exposes you to beauty and skincare companies all over the world that you probably never heard of. You also get the chance to try products that have come out in makeup stores that you may have been a bit apprehensive of spending the money on trying.

There are numerous products that I’d wanted to try but did not want to spend the money on a possible makeup-fail. Products like the Eyeko’s ‘Eye Do’ Liquid Eyeliner, Make Up For Ever’s Artist Liquid Matte Liquid Lipstick, and Becca’s Shimmering Skin Perfector® Pressed Highlighter. Now one of the main issues (probably the only true issue) that I’ve had with Allure is that the products that are sent….I’m simply not interested in the skin products, only the makeup products.

Yes, I understand that I will very well miss out on the next best thing if I don’t keep myself open to all things but the makeup industry is what seems to be evolving the fastest. I mean, who can’t just use some Neutrogena and some H2O+ NightTime Moisture-Lock and call it a day for the skincare routine? I’m just saying gurl….Allure gotta step the makeup game up.

Did you see???? Destiny’s Child Coachella performance 😎

On last night, Beyonce, Michelle Williams, and Kelly Rowland reunited at Coachella to put on a reunion show. Do we need to remind you that they did not disappoint? There’s no doubt that everyone was one their feet cheering as the talented trio performed some of their hits as “Say My Name’, ‘Lose My Breath’, and ‘Solider’. Needless to say that the performance will rival many Destiny’s Child performances from the past and any in the future gurl!!!!! Funny thing is Destiny’s Child performance outweighed Beyonce’s performance with Jay-Z.  What do you think?

Enjoy your day  ✨✨

New Orleans Fashion Week – Stevie Boi

In my travels throughout my life, I’ve noticed that a person’s face, a song, a location, an aroma…..things like this can remind you of something. Often, we can remember things vividly with such things to aid us. When Beyonce came on the scene with the song ‘Diva’ and wore those iconic shades at the beginning of the video, I was in a trance. Never did I imagine that I would one day get to meet the mastermind behind that piece of work. Those shades were made by no other than the celebrity designer, Stevie Boi (StevieBoi.com).

You know I had to bring a little twist to the experience, all in love. Please enjoy my video, photos of the venue and the shade collection Stevie Boi brought to New Orleans Fashion Week 2018.

More videos to come!!!!

Mardi Gras 2018 is over 😢 😢 😢

Mardi Gras is over ☹️☹️☹️ but I had a good time!!!!! Although I live about an hour away, going to The Big Easy is always an exciting trip for me. Here’s a picture I took at the 2018 Zulu BigShot ball at the Hyatt Regency – New Orleans

I want to personally thank the staff at the Hyatt Regency – New Orleans for their professionalism. I was merely a guest for an event and was given optimum treatment.

I’ll be making a post on Mardi Gras in the near future and the greatness in and around New Orleans.
