Michael Kors buys Versace: Who’s getting elevated here?

Yes, I know some of you were wondering if I was going to say something about this. Okay, when I heard about the potential sale of Versace to Michael Kors a couple of days ago, I was in the airport trying to catch my flight. When I saw the tweets and then the articles this morning, I nearly choked on my breakfast. What was even more interesting were the reactions to these turn of events.

While most of us were hit with shock, awe, and excitement, I can truly say that Michael Kors has been on an aggressive climb in the world of fashion and business. So let’s be honest here: if Michael Kors was not considered a ‘giant’ in the fashion industry in the past, they are now. Not only with its recent acquiring of Versace, but a series of strategically-placed events. What some are forgetting is that this is not the first time in which Michael Kors has made a major investment within the fashion industry. Back in 2017, Michael Kors bought Jimmy Choo for an estimated £896 million ($1.1 billion). Now, while still expanding with stores all over the world, Michael Kors announced a deal to by the fashion house of Versace for an estimated $2.1 billion and then change the name of MKH Limited to Capri to couple with the expansion of its empire.
While this is a major reign of accomplishments for the American designer and his empire, some Versace fans were not too happy about the merg. When the news hit Twitter, there were a swarm of mixed feelings:

With the reading of Twitter, it seems fans are concerned with the potential downplay of the empire that is Versace, but I don’t see it happening. Check out Versace’s most recent collection at Milan Fashion Week

Kate Spade (Kate Valentine) dead at 55

The news of Kate’s passing is shocking and sad. We don’t know much on details as it is breaking but, she was found dead in her apartment in New York City. Per Collen Long with The Associate Press:

The 55-year-old left a note at the scene and was found by housekeeping at about 10:20 a.m. It’s not clear how long she had been dead. The medical examiner will perform an autopsy.

The officials said she was found with a red scarf around her neck attached to a doorknob. The officials were not authorized to speak publicly and spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity.

This story is ongoing and developing. Let’s please be mindful and respectful of the family in mourning.

Fashion Designer: Elie Saab

Now, let’s start the week off with some amazingly expensive luxury designs. Enter Elie Saab. When I hear the name of this designer, I automatically think luxury, gowns, and premium quality fabrics. Still can’t distinctly remember a Elie Saab gown? Here’s one for you that you may remember:

This Lebanese-born fashion designer has been around for over 30 years, providing the fashion world with elegant gowns of embroidery and Swarovski crystals. Saab has also provided designs that are available in Neiman Marcus as well. I’ll show you one that can be purchased in your Neiman Marcus store.

This brings on a new sense of the phrase ‘pay the price’. Here are some of the elegant designs Elie Saab has given us over the years. Enjoy!

Berny Martin : Founder of Midwest Fashion Week

Throughout my travels in an unbiased quest to bring to my audience fashion and the unique designers behind them, my recent travels took me into the city of Chicago, affectionately known as the ‘Heart of America’. My destination in the Windy City? Midwest Fashion Week of course, which was founded and guided by Mr. Berny Martin.

As a fan of Mr. Martin’s work, I have followed Midwest Fashion Week over the years as they have acquired numerous mentions in notable magazines such as IndyStar.com (USA Today), ELLE Men, and Ok! Magazine. Midwest Fashion Week not only brings forth talent and visions via the runway, but also raises money for charities and non-profit organizations.

Mr. Martin is no ordinary Haitian-born gentleman with just ‘good taste’, but an international fashion revolutionary in his own right. Notably a graduate of Purdue University, Berny Martin is also the Founder and CEO of Catou Wear, which serves on leaps and bounds beyond simply ‘made’ fashion designs.

Martin’s Catou Wear brings on a personalization of tailoring, sophistication, elegance and flare. His love and passion for customizing designs to compliment the client’s personality proves true, even in his own personal attire. A gentleman indeed and a lover of the craft, Berny Martin has been bringing stunning artistry to the runway all over the world. I personally came into contact with Catou Wear via Couture Fashion Week in 2015, Times Square, New York.

As I bring to you the designers of MidWest Fashion Week, please know that hard work, dedication and love of the art assisted Mr. Berny Martin and his team in making this magic come to life.

✨Being A Blogger with no name ✨ Pt. 1 (#FashionXAustin) – Austin, TX

While the fashion community is a bit tensed right now (all over the world, actually) with this …..I’ll call it the ‘Polyvore Scandal’, I want to step away and give you insight into my own experiences that I have been going through in the realm of fashion.

If you are following me on other social media platforms (check my social media links under my photo 👈🏽👈🏽), you’ll notice that I’m not only a blogger, but have worn a few hats in my time here on this Earth. As a military veteran and law enforcement veteran, being a blogger has proven to be challenging in itself. Despite that, I make an over-extended effort to come out of hiding in my office and attend these events so that I can share them with you 😃

I am sure you are wondering where this is coming from and, to be quite frank with my audience, it has been something that I have labored over. When you read my thoughts and opinions on experiences I have bared witness to, please do not lose the fact that I am just like you, an audience to what is around me or that in which I am exposed to. I bring those experiences to you here, in this blog.

While on the road driving nearly seven hours to Austin, Texas for Fashion Week, my mind kept going back to my first Fashion Week, which took place in New Orleans a few weeks prior. It was as if I was meant to be there, although I knew no one. As a blogger, I had access to the runway just as the other social media and press entities had. Its probably the only reason this Fashion Week was difficult to digest. I know little about being on this side of the camera or how smaller media entities are treated. With that in mind, I will look at each fashion event as a learning lesson. While I was in a bad position and had little opportunity to take good photos to share with you, out of nearly 600 photos, I can bring to you the ones I am sharing in this post.

I have no information on the designers to credit or link their work so you can further research them, their brand, stores, or their collections directly. Please enjoy what I have brought back to you and I hope that as I become more fluent in the way in which things operate for small social media platforms as mine, I hope to bring you better content references.
