Michael Kors buys Versace: Who’s getting elevated here?

Yes, I know some of you were wondering if I was going to say something about this. Okay, when I heard about the potential sale of Versace to Michael Kors a couple of days ago, I was in the airport trying to catch my flight. When I saw the tweets and then the articles this morning, I nearly choked on my breakfast. What was even more interesting were the reactions to these turn of events.

While most of us were hit with shock, awe, and excitement, I can truly say that Michael Kors has been on an aggressive climb in the world of fashion and business. So let’s be honest here: if Michael Kors was not considered a ‘giant’ in the fashion industry in the past, they are now. Not only with its recent acquiring of Versace, but a series of strategically-placed events. What some are forgetting is that this is not the first time in which Michael Kors has made a major investment within the fashion industry. Back in 2017, Michael Kors bought Jimmy Choo for an estimated £896 million ($1.1 billion). Now, while still expanding with stores all over the world, Michael Kors announced a deal to by the fashion house of Versace for an estimated $2.1 billion and then change the name of MKH Limited to Capri to couple with the expansion of its empire.
While this is a major reign of accomplishments for the American designer and his empire, some Versace fans were not too happy about the merg. When the news hit Twitter, there were a swarm of mixed feelings:

With the reading of Twitter, it seems fans are concerned with the potential downplay of the empire that is Versace, but I don’t see it happening. Check out Versace’s most recent collection at Milan Fashion Week

There has been a number of request via email and I don’t know how anyone would assume I could find this out….but I did!
Ladies and Gentlemen……here is a list of some of the most expensive cellphones in the world.

1. Vertu Signature Cobra

This British-manufactoured phone is known for its rarity, method of deliver, and of course, its price. Known to be built with the latest technology and highest amount of jewels, Vertu was initially owned by Nokia. While the business is dissolved, the Signature Cobra has always been in very low production, costing as much as $400,000. The phone is set with a whopping 439 rubies! Once the phone is paid in full, its usually shipped via helicopter. Sorry to say for you technology fans, this phone is not a smart-phone. Go figure.

2. Diamond Crypto Smartphone

Very worried about your privacy and got $1.3 million to spend on a cellphone? The Diamond Crypto Smartphone is the tech gadget for you. Encrusted with 40 white diamonds and 10 blue diamonds, this smartphone is definitely an eye-pleaser. Designed by famed Austrian jeweler Peter Aloisson, this smartphone is made to please the eye, not the pocket. If its too much for you, he also makes diamond-encrusted iPhones as well. 3. Dior Reveries Haute Couture

Oh you want couture? Android couture??? Oh well let me introduce you to the Dior Reveries Haute Couture smartphone. Assembled, in France, this Android phone is made up of over 1,500 small diamonds, over 40 pearls and 18-karat gold……can I faint now? Now, if you’ll just be willing to pay the $116,200….nothing big for a lux-shopper.

Norvina palette: Hear it from the ones we follow on social media🧚🏽‍♀️

So….was it something you were waiting for, because I know myself and others in the beauty community were anticipating this as well. Norvina, the new eyeshadow palette from Anastasia Beverly Hills. While not available in Ulta or Sephora until August 5th, this palette was is currently available online for purchase on ABH’s website. Lucky for us, some of my favorite YouTubers have gotten their hands on this palette and I am here for the tea.

Alright so let’s get into this palette:

On the first look, the Norvina eyeshadow palette gives us the look just as the Subculture, Modern Renaissance and Soft Glam palettes. Soft, velour-type feel to the cover of the palette, putting you definitely in the mood and prepared to be blown away by the shades that are inside this gorgeous little oddity. One of my favorite YouTubers out of south Texas who is known for giving us potent fantasy through makeup and drag. Have you seen this beauty?

While known for her drag fantasy makeup, its hard to not acknowledge her raw talent for artistry.

Who else to give us the realness on the new Norvina palette other than ✨LUSHIOUS MASSACR✨

Now, when I initially saw the palette, I was appreciative of the palette name ‘Base’, letting users known its purpose. After I got over the appreciation of that, I was thinking one thing and one thing only. Lucky for me, Lushious Massacr was bold enough to say it for us in her YouTube video at the 1:56 mark of her review/tutorial:

Thank you for saying it for us all, Lushious…..where in the hell is this shade that the box is covered in? Give us this color!!!!!!

I’m expecting to get a more vibrant range of colors, centered around the color of the palette, but it didn’t happen. Don’t get me wrong, the palette is beautiful with a even number of mattes and shimmers (girl, that looks like glitter), but where I think the palette missed the mark is with delivering what we were expecting when we saw the shade color and mood the palette cover gave us.

Now, let’s start the week off with some amazingly expensive luxury designs. Enter Elie Saab. When I hear the name of this designer, I automatically think luxury, gowns, and premium quality fabrics. Still can’t distinctly remember a Elie Saab gown? Here’s one for you that you may remember:

This Lebanese-born fashion designer has been around for over 30 years, providing the fashion world with elegant gowns of embroidery and Swarovski crystals. Saab has also provided designs that are available in Neiman Marcus as well. I’ll show you one that can be purchased in your Neiman Marcus store.

Berny Martin : Founder of Midwest Fashion Week

Throughout my travels in an unbiased quest to bring to my audience fashion and the unique designers behind them, my recent travels took me into the city of Chicago, affectionately known as the ‘Heart of America’. My destination in the Windy City? Midwest Fashion Week of course, which was founded and guided by Mr. Berny Martin.

As a fan of Mr. Martin’s work, I have followed Midwest Fashion Week over the years as they have acquired numerous mentions in notable magazines such as IndyStar.com (USA Today), ELLE Men, and Ok! Magazine. Midwest Fashion Week not only brings forth talent and visions via the runway, but also raises money for charities and non-profit organizations.

Mr. Martin is no ordinary Haitian-born gentleman with just ‘good taste’, but an international fashion revolutionary in his own right. Notably a graduate of Purdue University, Berny Martin is also the Founder and CEO of Catou Wear, which serves on leaps and bounds beyond simply ‘made’ fashion designs.
